here are a couple of things you can say when somone to see a trick that is gimicked but you don't have the gimick to do it.

You could say, "I can't do that one to you again or you might figure it out."

or you could also say, " I can't do the same trick twice" if they had seen you do it some other time.

To give him an answer.

It had already been answered so quoting shows it's already been answered and it gives him a good answer, he could have said exactly the same and not quoted but then Jamie wouldn't have liked it, so he was crediting Jamie.

ok?

Why'd you just reply to it?

When I first tried to reply, the reply button wouldn't show up in the forum. I clicked quote, highlighted what was there and changed it to what I wanted to say. When I clicked submit, it changed it back and submit it. I thought it would have posted what I typed. Guess I was wrong. Back to the topic.

Don't say "You'll figure it out." They already assume that, so your goal has to be to make them think there isn't a trick.

If you want to be slack this is a dialogue you could perhaps use:
1)" I haven't been able to do that trick since Frank died"
2) "Who is frank?"
1) Burst into tears and run away

Just guessing but if you do this there is a chance they won't ask to see that trick for a while and then you won't have to carry the gimmic all the time. On the down side you have to find someone called Frank, murder them and then leave this gimmic in their shirt pocket for a while so you don't have to lie as much if you decide to use this.

If you took the last bit seriously, make sure you remember to take your medication and to go back to your padded cell before God comes for you.

I say that the batteries just ran out so I can't do it again.
