if you say you are going to take out the two black kings (were just using kings for explination purposes) and they say, "why do they have to be the black kings?" than you look at them and say "ok here... take the deck and find me the two white kings!!! ok then.." (and they wont find them cus there r none)

or

you could just look at them and say "because there arent any white kings"

tell me what u think

You could also say that they are the "Martin Luther Kings".

That one is a little more tounge in cheek than Affirmative Action. But funny in the right audience. The last thing you need is a civil rights leader like Jesse Jackson in the audience. Then you are toasty crispy after you get flamed for being a racist.

It was basically just a play on words. You could probably find a reason to call them "Larry Kings".

Actually, it is not a good idea to include racial, sexual, religious or political inferences when performing anyway. Your entire audience should enjoy watching you perform.

This really isn't that new of an idea, and as mentioned before it usually isn't a good idea to include something like this unless you present it very passively. E.g.: I'm not being racist but for this one we are just going to use the black kings.

I hate hearing "I'm not racist or anything, but," it's used as a way to not offend anyone by making a racial comment. If I said, "I'm not racist, but towelheads make great taxi drivers," if would still be a racial comment. In the situation of cards, I use black kings because I don't want to use the red ones now. I'll use those later. Whatever you have to say, leave race out of it because, eventually, someone will get offended.

I agree.

Why on earth would you want to inject race and affirmative action into your performance in the first place?

I thought vlaraway's post was about what he would do if a spectator raised the issue.

My Martin Luther King reference was suggested as a response. In other words, you are proud to have the Kings represent Martin Luther King. It was not tongue in cheek.

Having stated that, anyone who has ever seen a pack of cards realizes that there are black and red kings, so how would using the black kings imply that you are a racist?

When you make reference to a subject like race out of the blue, your motives will be suspect.
