Hello, I am getting ready to look for a restaurant this Augest to work at, but I have some questions.

1. What type of Restaurant should I look for if I'm wanting more business outside from the restaurant. EX: Birthdays, Weddings, ect.

2. If i'm looking for a Restaurant to get more business from it, such as Birthdays, should I look for a restaurant with kids and parents, or the parents, since they are the ones paying for their kids birthday?

Thanks for the answers~

My suggestion is that you pick up a few books on the subject. Search For Jim Pace and Peter Lansing, as both have books on the subject. Those will give you much better answers than you will get on the forums.

I think people here will want the following information so they can help you better:

How old are you?
How long have you been performing/practicing your magic?
Have you done any professional performing before?
How do you think hiring a magician will help the restaurant?

EDIT:

I gave you a "B" on the poll for 2 reasons:

grammer=grammar
Augest=August

That, and random uppercase letters in the middle of sentences.

1. I will be turning 16 in August.
2. I have been performing/practicing my magic for 5-6 years
3. I have dont several professional performances
4. Hiring a magician will help a restaurant in many ways. First off it will provide more business, help the waiters, help the customers from having to be bored, while they wait for their food.

I gave you an F for poor English. Look up the words; "grammer" and "Augest." They don't exist. I misspelled word = D 2 + F

I was about to give you a C or whatever, but decided to be nice. The other two pointed out the other two words, but you don't need to capitalize restaurant and birthdays.

Like I said, both the authors above probably have much better material than you'll find anywhere else.

Peter Lansing's Making a Living Entertaining in Restaurants - $20 (approx.)
Jim Pace's The Restaurant Worker's Handbook - $27 (approx.)

You don't need both, but I'd suggest picking up one and reading it, as both contain:

How to find a place to work
How to approach the restaurant
Kind of material to perform
How to approach a table
Self-promotion in your act

So I'd say it'd be a great investment. Sure, a few people here work in restaurants, but these people make their livings doing so, and they know what they're talking about.

If you want kids shows:

Just show parents and some will book

Show kids and more will book

If you want more formal jobs show kids and adults, but the adults must see, and must be impressed. Tricks must not be entirely kid orientated. Unless of course they want a kids entertainer for their wedding etc.

This is just another example of "grade inflation". C is not poor, but rather average. This just goes to show that the American education system is failing in its assigned task of educating the future of America.

Genius 3232,
If you want to know how NOT to spell read above from tkies.
What books and DVD's have you watched or how have you researched on doing kid shows?
If you do get a BD party out of restaurant what have you done to prepare yourself?
