That's a strange name. If you don't like it, just don't use it when you're performing. Or you could have your name legally changed.

"No, it was given too me by an ex." What's the big deal? It's your last name. My last name is Corn. Dammit, I'm the cornstar if I have to be. Don't worry about saying something funny when they ask. Be yourself. If you're not naturally a funny, spontaneous guy, saying something clever is only going to hurt you.

im gonna go out on a limb here and say you got made fun of alot growing up, or still do. Your last name is very unique, and yes it does fit a magician well.

Anyway, my last name is Hargrove. Now when I tell people my last name, I get this. Hardgrer? Harder? Hardgrow? Hargrow? Unless I enunciate very well, its just bad. I guess people are just dumb.

Anyway, just say "yes, that's my real name" and move on with what you are doing.

Or...If you want to make a funny (somewhat) comment, you could use a line like this.

Q: Is that your real name?

A: Yes, well...I'm a Close-Up Magician. I love performing Magic with Cards, Coins and Finger Rings. I'm a true Handwerker through and through!

Thanx a lot guys those were some great tips I used most of them and I also realize if I don't make a big deal out of it and do my magic they wont either and also I am a comedic magician so if they do ask me I will have some great responses to add more funny to my show. And yes I was made fun of alot as a kid but I got over it by scaring them all with my magic. Keep the ideas comming.

My last name is Power-Kronick.

Pronounced as Chronic. Like the drug.

How do you think I feel?

I think that handwerker is a good last name because you "work" with your "hands" for tricks. . .

I know, it was lame.

I know a guy named Costanza.
No relation to the one from Seinfeld, but the point is, if you are a funny guy I would suggest trying to be funny about it and make jokes if that's what you're comfortable with.

I like to come up with different names all the time, I'll use several a night if I'm doing street magic. Some times I'll have someone that I've preformed for before join a group and hear me introduce myselfas a different name. The point is, a names not important, part of magic is keeping people guessing.

I know what you mean...Try having a name like Michal Angelo. I've had some people pronounce my name as "Mickle (Mi-khul)" I always correct them and tell them, "No, it's like Michael, with no 'e'."

And no....I don't paint. The artist Michelangelo, was a great artist...possibly the greatest, which inspires me to be the best in the art of magic and illusions that I can be.

Oh... I was once asked by a six year old if I was named after the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. LOL. :D
