I think Paddy's right. I've gotten sick of trying to help people with these kids shows. Pookie, ignore everything I said. Surely DangerbarClay knows so much more than me. I mean, sure, he hasn't been doing magic as long, but he knows everything. He's going to disagree with years of experience and study, and the general consensus among professional children performers, but who's to disagree with him.

I'm done though. I'm staying out of helping people with kids shows.

Sorry if I was being a know it all or disagreeing alot, but I just didn't want 10 year old's to be known as dumb, or not paying attention long... I was just trying to say that a decade old is probably old enough to pay attention to long tricks...

I don't care how old this is, but I regret what I said on this awhile ago...

This is why I have stopped coming on here. I'll check it once in a while only to see the same stuff and not make a comment.

All they have to do is read one comment of yours or kristens or paddys or Floods or mine.... As it seems that the same thing is always said, in one fashion of another.

As my parents used to say... "its like trying to nail jello to a tree."
or "No good deed goes unpunished."

Some days I ask my self, "why do I keep going back?" Some days I truely dont know why. Maybe the hope of seeing some one actually listen for once or seeing some one actually learn and used the advice given.

We take time out of our bussy lives to try and help, and we get [edited] on for it. Kinda kills the drive to want to help.

But the kids dont care- they dont have respect for themselves, the art, or the people that "hire them." They arent willing to put the in time and dedication needed. Now and days everything has to be done faster and easier, this premise just doesnt work for everything. They care about being right (even when wrong), making money, being cool, and doing as little as possible to obtain those things.

Glad to see you on the board Sluggo!

Well, just remember--- there are those kids that really do want to learn! I see it all the time at SYM. I just look at this forum as a virtual meeting place for those kids that don't have an assembly near them. Even at SYM meetings you will still have the kids that are in it for the moment, but there are those 'jewels' that want to learn the art. So, my fellow magician friends my best advice is to look for the jewels. If you can help others along the way, that is great, but just think of the difference you can make on that one child that truly does care in the art when you unearth them!

BTW-- just to share the happy news, our daughter is so excited, she is now offically a member of the S.A.M. as well as the S.Y.M. She also joined the IBM. She is ecstatic that she is now old enough to be a part of the adult group that is so kind and wonderful to her. In fact, she has already inquired how old she has to be to serve on the Board. Her sponsors? Her dear mentor (and Past National President of SAM) and Past President of our Assembly. They were all smiles to sponsor her!
