I didn't want to post this in general magic, so this is pretty much the only place where it can go. I was thinking about getting The Daniel Garcia Project Volume 1, mainly for rubber made. I have a couple questions on this effect, so I would like it if you guys could help me out.
How much preperation?
Is it gimmicked?
If so, is the gimmick hard to make?
Is it practical?
Is it impromptu?
This is in my top three, and I would like to make a purchase before the end of the month[I usually buy stuff at the end of the month, so practice it for a month and buy something new] I'll give you my top three, in case there is something that you think is better.

Rubber Made Pro's and Con's
Pro's:

It's insanely visual.
easy to do
examinable before and after
people freak out
You can wear the gimmick all night and nobody will know you have it

Con's
lighting can be an issue (exposure?)
you have to wear a button down shirt, or glasses, unless you come up with a different place...
You can't give out the linked rubber bands, unless you unlink them first

When Daniel said what you needed for the effect, I rewound the thing 3 times to make sure I heard him right, it's just a weird use of the gimmick.

I would go with DGP1 first then TOOC, then PE.

Meh, the clothing thing is really a put off. I got PE. I was going to get TOOC but I couldn't find it anywhere for less than 60 bucks exept penguin, but it's sold out, and I think 60 bucks is WAYYYYY too expensive for a book. Thanks for all the info though, I appreciate it.

Is the gimmick a magic type gimmick[TT etc.] or can you buy it at like the hardware store.

The gimmick isn't exactly a gimmick, more of a tool which you can only buy at magic stores or ebay or whatever (from what i know).
The first phase of rubbermade is impromtu, with no setup.
Fist phase: Make a ring go on and of a rubber band
The second phase needs about a 1 minute setup and a few props.
Second phase: make two rubber bands link
I love the effect and perform it all the time.

Yep, the second phase needs set-up. But the first one doesn't. Both are cool new ideas. I perform both.

If 60 dollars is way too much for a book, then 30 bucks for a one trick DVD is utterly insane.

Books contain a wealth of information, often multitudes more than what can be found in a DVD. For instance, 4 times the information for twice the price. Is that bad?

Ummmmm, last time I checked The Daniel Garcia Project wasn't a 1 trick dvd.

the first 2 phases of rubber made are impromptu, but the linking bands isnt, it requires a gimmick that you probably already have.
