David Blaine does his watch steal, where the two cards change places and he gets their watch. The same could be done with a ring if it is generally loose, and you slowly move your hands up your spectators hands. I've done this only to relatives, and afterwards give it back (like David Blaine). Its a really great effect, but its harder to do then the watch.

That would be hard seeing as there are people who have trouble getting their ring off themselves.

No he doesn't. He may take a ring, but he's not stealing it. I have it on very good authority that neither of them can do those moves.

This may not go into pickpocketing, but what about buying a very cheap ring (a fake one maybe only 5 $ 10$) And lets say writing 3 of spades on it. (or 3 o s , depending on how much room you have) anyways so force them a card and the ring on their finger. Or taking a duplicate card, making it into a right shape, forcing the card on them, then making the card vanish from the deck, creating a little misdirection then puting the ring on their finger. then Tell them its on your finger. they unravel it and there it is the three of spades, or they look at it and it sas 3 o s or three of spades. might not work never tryed it but just a thought.
