Hey, how's it going? I was just wondering everyones opinion of their best trick for generating tips. People seem to love "Out Of This World and I get decent tips, any other recommendations?

Out of this World doesn't really come off as a walk aorund/resturaunt trick...

Sponge balls are great. Quick card tricks. Coin/money magic. Other small object manipulations. Fire! Visual stuff.

I'm gonna say no to the fire...a lot of places probably won't like the liability.

No place is going to like fire, so don't even consider it, but visual and colorful, and unexpected are three things you're trick should do. Pretty much 3 things all tricks should do.

David Stone gives alot of infromation about tiping in his second volume.
He has a billswitch routine with patter and everything so you are sure you will get tipped. I use it alot.

Basically any tricks that borrow money from them have a good chance for inspiring tips. I use Jay Sankey's Dough sometimes as a middle effect or closer and I'd say it inspires tips about 50% of the time, which is pretty good. As for the fire, some restaurants have no problem with it. I use it at one of the restaurants I work at (flashpaper, not a fire wallet) and it is without question the most popular trick I do. All of the managers and servers are always asking me to show people "the one with the fire".

It takes some major audience management skills, but the Hobson Egg Bag works well for me.

I can't speak about depending on tips, when strolling, but in my stand-up gigs I've had a couple of $50 tips in the past week, largely because of that routine and how I present the entire act.

seems to me your into magic for the money? (correct me if im wrong)

Tricks dont make you tips , the way you present them will.

I could use a regular deck of cards and amaze someone rather than buying a prop for 50.00

i suggest you read some books and dvds such as :

bobos coin magic-book
royal road to card magic-book

etc .

i would recommend the mis-made bill
it gives the incentive to tip because it uses money and it is very visual and amazing :D

If looking for card effects, call of the wild is instant reset.....
You could end saying 5 spades is not a valid hand, this is a hand that will get you the money!
Perhaps subcoinsciously this could work.
