What is everyones thought on using loops in a restaraunt situation? I own the dvd series gurella guide to using loops all 3 volumes and they are wonderful... i know lighting can have alot to do with them i just want some idea's if anyone uses loops in a restaraunt as i am cautious and do not want to get caught... i usually always do quantom bandits and i know the possesed band routine would be great right after that i just wanted to know if anyone else has had good luck with loops in restaraunt work??
any advice would be great.

i dont do loops because you have to worry about many things.

In most restaurants the lighting isn't an issue because it's unusual for a restaurant to have blinding lights.
I think loops are great for a restaurant setting.

They work just fine. I would suggest having extra ones made though, and sticking them in a safe place. Personally, I keep mine on a note card that has grooves cut into it. I then put it in my close-up case that is either left in my car, or set aside (depending on where I'm performing). This way I have extras just in case.

The lighting shouldn't be a problem generally. The restaurants I've performed at have been wonderful. The lighting is just right.

The biggest problem is having them break. But if you keep extras, then you're alright. Also, if they do break, and you don't have any spares, then you just move onto new effects.

ah i see, yeah i will try them out then because i know that some great material can accomplished through the use of a loop. Do you prefer yigal mesika's or do you tie your own?

I tie my own. I find that it's cheaper, and just more practical for me.

I agree with fallingblood, it is cheaper to make your own. An advantage to tying your own loops is that you can make the loops any length you want.

yeah thats true. Is there any certain type of thread both of you prefer using e.i. yigal mesikas thread, pet2.0, plain invisible elastic thread, or that new infinity thread i hear that stuff is pretty good. Is there any type you would recomend because i am thinking about purchasing the million dollar knot to start tying my own.

PET 2.0 is pretty good, I've never used Yigal Mesikas' Thread before but I've heard it's a lot stronger than the PET 2.0. The PET 2.0 is weak but you can still work with it and it's undetectable to the naked eye. I don't recommend its use under direct light because it tends to shine slightly.

I would suggest getting the million dollar knot, as it comes with the thread as well. I personally use PET 2.0 because I got it with the million dollar knot, and just haven't used it all up yet. Something that I find that helps though is to take a black marker, and just kind of brush the elastic thread with it. You don't have to color the whole thing, just brush it. What this does is kill the shine on it.

I have pretty good exp.

Loops are good, whether you tie your own or you buy them pre made.

doesnt matter.


you have to be careful though

some restaurants have a stronger lighting than others.

I use loops all the time! I do my version of the " HUNTED DECK" where the "mark" handles the deck and even shuffles the deck picks the card returns it and I even give the deck a cut WITH the loops around the deck! Then I set the deck down on the table... Tell them to think about their card... and let the magic happen!!!! Then I hand them their card that has slid out of the deck... hand them the deck to look at and I'm all cleen , all clear! The barrowed dollar floating between my hands is alway a kicker!!! Just remember to ware a shirt that is a dark solid color or has a lot of patterns to it. That helps hide the loops when floating the dollar bill!
