The easiest way I've found to spot and delete our current flood of SPAM BOTS is if it's the only message in a thread. Once somebody answers, even if it's to say "Where's a mod when you need one?" it only slows things down as now the most recent poster is a legitimate user instead of the spammer.

Here's a hint to spotting spam. If the entire text of the message is blue, and it's from a member who just joined today and this is their first post, it's likely that the words have hidden links to spam sites.

Please, if you find a message such as this, just leave it alone. A mod will be around shortly to clean it up for you. Answering it, even to tell someone "don't answer" just gives the spammers what they want; more exposure.

Please? I ask again. DON'T respond to the BOTS? Now that they're starting to embed themselves in existing topics it makes them even harder to find. Especially if I review the topics and see the most recent post in a legitimate topic is by a recognized user. Once these BOT posts get "inside" a topic they're almost impossible to find.

So again, Don't respond to the BOTS!! If you find one and it hasn't been taken care of in a reasonable time (remember, even Mods need to sleep sometime) then PM a Mod and they'll handle it.
