If you have the latest issue of M.U.M., you should take some time to read the section written by the editor. In it, he discusses the previous issue of M.U.M. and the articles about Banachek.

For those of you who don't receive M.U.M.; in the February issue, they had a section about Banachek. In it, they briefly mention his involvement with Mindfreak and Criss Angel. Afterwards, Criss Angel fired Banachek (who had edited the article) because he (Criss) didn't believe that his creativity was praised enough. This just goes to show you that Criss has an over inflated ego, and really should get over himself.

But this should prove that Mindfreak is going to end up even worse then it already is. However, Banachek isn't worried, as he's just starting back on his college shows, and possibly some television work himself, as well as some work with James Randi (which they will announce shortly).

That's certainly in Criss right to do. Every time he did something entertaining, people credited Banchek.

...Funny, I ran into Luke Jermay just a couple of days ago...and he too is no longer employed by Criss. Luke left on his own and is doing much better solo.

Could there be a trend...here?

Well with Banachek and Luke gone, there goes most of Criss's mentalism.

It was Criss's right to fire Banachek. However, it was for a very stupid reason. Plus, really how many people credited Banachek with everything? Maybe magicians did, but the show, as Criss has stated, is not for magicians. The average layman wouldn't credit Banachek with really anything. And the "Loyal" wouldn't credit anyone with Criss's magic except Criss. This really just comes down to Criss having a very large ego that was hurt when Banachek didn't praise Criss for his creativity (which Criss doesn't have much).

Well Jermay seems to work for Penguin now and he's popping out books at neck-break speed.

Banachek should have left after season 1 - the show was below him.

I'd have to agree with that. In my conversation with Luke, he mentioned that all of his stuff was available through Penguin.

Good he deserved it for getting involved with that putz anyway. Maybe now he can tell us the truth instead of selling out. How smart could one really be if they worked for Angel?

I think one of the main reasons he stayed with Criss for so long is because he wanted to make sure that the show was worth while. Criss basically was sucking up the name of magic, and Banachek intervened. I don't think it was really for Criss that he did it, but more for magic in general.

Now, Criss is still giving a bad name for magicians. But it's not as bad as it could have been.

This wasn't in the media. It was reported in M.U.M., the official magazine of the Society of American Magicians. Banachek himself said that he was fired. And yes, the interview in question, or more correctly, the article, did mention Criss. The article was about Banacheks creativity. However, Criss was unpleased that he wasn't praised enough in the article. Which is stupid, since the article was about Banachek, and not Criss.

Criss did fire Banachek.
