Im looking into getting into restaurant magic, but have no idea what to charge per night.. or hour?

any british magicians who could help would be greatly appreciated

it really depends on what restraunts you want to go to - some you can only get £5 p/h while others will give £25 or more. Depends on how you can impress them. On average I can usually get £10/15 ph walking around without tips

i might just go for near the minimal pay.
unless i ask them how much they think im worth after i perform to the manager/owner

Minimum pay is free by definition isn't it?

When you talk with a manager, you always need to sell yourself, show your best stuff. Never go for just minium pay (cos that is free) and if they can get that they will take it. Start off at say min wage (£5.50ph ish depending on your age) and work your way up.

Never ever say that you will work for the minimum unless its a charity gig, otherwise it shows that you have low self esteem and confidence. Which you will need to work on. You need to convince those managers that without you they wont get as much business!

If you're just starting out and you want the exposure desperately - tell them $50 per hour (roughly 25 pounds) with a 3 hour minimum.

yeah i dont wanna be working for free. But Id feel cheeky asking for 25 quid an hour lol.

Actually 25quid an hour isn't alot - it's actually quite a bargain.
1: To a restaurant, 75 a night for an entertainer is nothing - they probably spend as much in comped drinks and losses from coupons.
2: I'm no "master of restaurants" and I charge alot more.
3: Do you have any idea what a band to do live music costs?

i have no idea how experienced you are but as a standard i charge 150 for 2 hours. If they commit to once a week for 3 months.

5 years experienced in magic

about 3 years experience of performing in the street.

I know restraurant and street are different but Ill be able to work round that.

not really, but then i didnt ever perform on the streets, i started at private parties such as barmitzvahs and weddings.

Dont ask for an ammont ask them what they'd pay you.You might be thinking £15 ph but they might be thinking £50 ph.if there lower than what you were thinking then you can always try and negociate(sp?) it up but you wont be able to negociate(again sp?) up your starting price up.
