Would some of the vets please give me Magic Business 101? Let's take a name I don't know, like Nick Trost, and pretend he had developed a card illusion called Jumbo Two-Way Split. Is there an Nick Trost..does he create gimmicks or does he buy them the way a comedian buys jokes? Is his concept banked by a money seed group who then create a corporation? How does he get enough money to manufacture, package, advertise and sell effects. What is the business reality of these gimmicks with the names of magicians on them? Do magicians of some stature sell their gimmicks after their shows like Ronn Lucas sells vent stuff in Vegas?
Thanks for your time. ron0

I Think a lot of guys set up shop in their own kitchens and made gaffs. They would make them in bulk and send them to Murphy's or wherever. I know that Paul Green makes some of his effects that he was selling at the Magifest convention a few years ago. Michael Ammar went to a machine shop and had holes put in quarters then he glued them (by the thousands) onto pencils for give aways when he first started in trade shows!
