He's Japanese/French born in America, if I recall correctly. His last name is very Japanese if anything.

It is simple. weather the effects being seen are camara tricks or just effects being perform well beyond our expectations, cyril takayama "lol if thats spelled correct " has a erie yet suspenseful and entertaining way about him, that can make the smallest most prolonged boring card trick , into a bomb which we all wouldnt be expecting. blaine and angle ovbiously have this talent and are nasty!... but. have you ever seen david or criss, perform big illusions, which we all have,, but also do the most nasty cigg slieghts ever, and other things as well? nah. they are all nasty probably better then everyone of us. but cyril just hasnt had that big moment yet. undiscovered still... hes the best out there right now. eventually this guy will drop all of our jaws, if he already hasnt.

We can't argue over who is better we can only say that some magicians (or performers, whatever you like to call them) are great but one can not say that one is greater over the other since all magicians have their weak and strong points. Some are inexperienced but they too will be "great" some day.

I think Lance Burton is a better Magician than David Blaine. I think Michael Ammar is a better magician than David Blaine. I think Daryl is a better magician than David Blaine. I think Juan Tamariz is a better magician than David Blaine. I think Aldo Colombini is a better magician than David Blaine.

Don't get me wrong Blaine is good, I just think there are tons of magicians out there that are better.

Very True, Blaine's sleights are not all perfect, Go watch how Blaine fiddles and fumbles around with cards in some of his older videos. Anyways, Cyril is a better performer.
P.S.: Check out Cyril's ambitious Card routine where he's performing for 3 Japanese girls. LOL! He does the most obvious false riffle shuffle!

Actually, Blaine doesn't really fumble too often, and his sleights are darn near perfect. Have you seen his Riffle Pass? If you haven't, my point is proven, as he does it from a horrible angle, and I still missed it the first like fifteen times I saw it (I had his special recorded and I used to watch it a lot).

While his technical skill may be flawless, it does not matter as much if his delivery is less than inspiring. " Hold on... hold on, watch this , this is cool." Just... Great with sleights, but I just do not feel compelled to watch him.

Lance Burton on the other hand makes me care. Even if all he does is make a napkin dance, he entertains. He does something people would concider old fashioned... Dove productions from silks, and it's poetic and romantic.

I know it's comparing apples to oranges, but still... technical skill is not the only ingredient to being a great magician.
