Back to Cyril, I was doing some youtubing ( is that a word?) and I came across this one... very very well done.

That was pretty entertaining and part of the reason why i believe Cyril can easily be one of today's "top" magicians.

That video is my favorite one because I think it's hilarious how no one notices the false shuffle at the beginning of the routine!
It's still pretty entertaining though.

I love that even though I don't understand a word of japanese he still gets me into the magic... His skills at performing and body language are very good... Ok, I have to admit, i just saw his coffee and cream illusion and have no clue...

Just saw the coffee one. The first "Illusion" is pretty obvious but the one where the coffee mixes with the cream right on the guy's hands is pretty perplexing.

Ya the first one, I was telling my daughter.. " See How well he does it? You aren't supposed to see it.. with practice it's invisible."

But the one with the cream mixing with the coffee...In the guy's hands... wow.."

I never heard of Cyril Takayama until I started coming here, But I like his style, he is doing new stuff :-)

My mom hates magic ( I didn't know it was possible for someone to hate magic until i got into the hobby and my mom said she hated it ) so that makes it so hard for me to practice or even flourish with cards.
I envy your daughter. :D

I don't think she may hate magic, as much as hate the influence she feels it may have on you. As in take time away from studies... Friends, familiy, etc...or... maybe feel that it may become the main focus of your life to an extent where other things like ... School, or College, are ignored.

I think if you face her and tell her " Mom... this is a hobby I want to become involved in..I won't let it get in the way of anything else..." maybe she might be more accepting...

Tell her.." Some kids collect comic books, others are into Building models etc... I like magic."

Maybe she might relax a bit.

I have told her that!
I've even brought up the old "Atleast I'm not doing drugs" quote. :D
She just doesn't like cards i think.
Thanks for the advice though. :)

hmmm.. that is strange. If my kid told me that " at least it's not drugs." I would accept almost anything else... Ok I draw the line at MySpace..(just kidding). Just stick to it, don't let anyone try and take your dreams from you. Just remember they can strip you naked and hang you upside down from the rafters, rob you of all your belongings, and even maybe take away your good looks...but your dreams no one can take from you, or should even try. But you have to stick to it :-)

I think regardless of your ambitions, if she sees youtreating it as a hobby she may not fear it as much. I know it's hard especially when you wish to share a magic effect you have been praticing and practicing for her to go.." I don't like that stuff" Is it JUST card magic specifically? or all magic?
