OK well let me ask this. If the winning number is say 45, and no one picks 45 or less, ...
If I only had a handful of participants that would always be a possibility ... but you know as well as I do that that's not likely because of the amount of participants I have. There's always gonna be several who guess on the lower end of the scale.
[quote="sirbrad"] ... I just think by not having the rule it would make things less complicated. I don't see why you cannot "go over" a number. That suggests some bias in what is supposedly a random raffle.
OK ... Let's say I made it so that the Winner was the one who went
over by the least ... the written down number being say, 150, and the Winner wins with a guess of say, 153 ... then what if someone guessed 148 ? ... the 148 guesser comes closest but loses. Then ya got the so called "bias" on the other end !
It's one of those catch-22 situations ... you're damned if ya do, damned if ya don't ... so ya hafta draw the line somewhere ... I just happened to chose the 'without going over' option, because the other way around doesn't make sense too me.
Ya never see 'em going over on "The Price Is Right" and winning.
