If people say "How'd you do that" I'd say "It's magic" in such a way as they know it isn't, I know they know it isn't, they know I know they know it isn't, but I'm not offering anything else so they'll have to take it or leave it. Seriously, I don't want people to actually believe I can read minds or pass solid objects through one another or what have you. I just want them to love the illusion.

" I do not have real magic powers. This is all Illusion. Everything I say including this should be taken with a grain of salt. I may be lieing to you....even now... * smile evilly*... I can read your minds you are wondering how much of what i have told you is truth. All of this is true. I am not a mentalist. * smile again*. When one practices illusion one needs to blend fantasy and reality, my goal is that by the time I am done, you cannot tell one from another. So... To answer your questions... how do i do these? Magic!!! :-)"

I think if you deliver it with the right amount of humor, and wit, that covers both... not claiming to have magic powers...and pretending to have magic powers, without saying.." I needed to practice a lot.. cause they are tricks." and if they say i am lieing I tell them " well ya...but I am lieing honestly."

Being a Christian I worry about misleading people into thinking I have supernatural powers. I prefer to call myself an "illusionist" rather than a "magician." Just like actors, magicians are liars. And just like actors, the audience accepts the fact that we are liars. We lie to entertain - never to mislead.

I tend to stay away from pure mentalism acts because people in general are unable to separate fantasy from realality in those situations. However, if at first your doing stunts like pulling a rabbit out of a hat and then go on to read their mind, I feel they are less likely to believe in paranormal phenomenon.

I hate being called an "illusionist", it's too "Criss Angely".

Illusionist sounds too wussy for me... I'm a magician... a conjurer, I am not ashamed.

Up with magicians! :D
Why are you guys (not clarissa) so ashamed about being called magicians?

I like illusionist personally, it's really just a synonym for magician. I think sometimes "magician" is overused, so I'll throw in an "illusionist" to spice things up.

I don't mind either. I don't give a crap whether people consider me Piss Angelish or not. I know that I am way better than him (a 3 year old monkey with a TT is better than him!) and that is all that matters.

Criss is a flat- out hypocrite. He claims to have supernatural powers, and yet he rips into a guy for claiming that he did also. If your performance is based around the fact that you have supernatural abilities (as part of your presentation,) than it is incredibly rude to point out that he doesn't actually posses powers. Criss is an astronomical heckler

He'd probably try to pick it up.

He's not talented, he has an ego off the charts and has "creative differences" with some of the best minds in magic and mentalism. If you have creative differences with Banachek and Jermay, chances are you're wrong.
