I'm just curious if you were dealing blackjack or playing when you cheated? Also if you were at a casino or not?

I use pickpocketing for my tricks such as today i snuck a duplicate card into my friends pocket before a trick (awesome affect) his mom was standing there and she screamed when i said weres ur card? ( i made it disapear) and he said i dont know and i said look in your pocket

but laugh scream not horror scream

oh and i love the three card monte i did it at lunch at my high skool and made 75 cents 2 girl guide cookies one soda and one five alive ooh ya

When i learned 3 card monte and got it down good i took to school. i would do it during lunch and win lunch money that way i once won 15 $.

I'm not really great with the cards, but pickpocketing has been useful to me from time to time. I just did a show last saturday... I had a heckler... heck, most of my crowd Heckles *Mainly cuz I know most of the clubs patrons from when I was the big friendly bouncer there*

but anyways, this guy was an exception, seeing I had to kick him from the club when I worked there, and He's known for being quite the mouth piece....... so as for his wallet, He ended up losing it a few times that night, always ended up on his buddy... til his buddy got sick of the accusations and left... then I totally ricky dunn'ed him a few times till he turned red and shut up for the night.

but really, I'm a sideshow freak by first nature, and an ethical magician second.....

I have used this in the context of magic. Glance at the bottom card while overhand shuffling or something and then have them select a card, table the deck have them put it on top and dead cut. Then proceed to deal through the deck (messily) until you deal past your key card and then a few more, then you stop about 6 or so cards after making sure their card is visible face up on the table in a messy pile and hold one card out from the deck (face down) and say "i'll bet you ten dollars the next card I turn over will be yours" then you get them to put your money on the table

every sucker will want in. All you do is put the face down card back on the deck and reach into the pile and turn over their card and bam 10 dollars sometimes more.

Genius...

Then of course they get the concept in their head of "after trick give money" and your tips come in.

Well, if I were completely honest I have to admit that I have cheated multiple times in card games with friends. I never play for money or anything, I just don't like losing and it's nice to pull out a move or two and see the look on your friends face when your dealing yourself things like all four aces or a 21 . As far as pickpocketing/watch stealing, I've never done that because I don't know how. Now, once I do from whatever video teaches it here, I'll be doing it all the time. I'd give them back instantly of course, I just think it would be funny to see some of my pals carefully watching their wrists to make sure their watches haven't left them.

I personally don't play cards that much because nobody particularly wants to play with me anymore which is actually good because i would probably suck at it if i did not cheat, lol.

I shall just let them assume i am fantastic.
My first venture into sleight of hand was cheating in cards at school for money and now that i am much older, i am certain my ability to cheat is better than ever but still....
I don't think i would find it fun anymore.

3 card monte is a risk for money because if there is money on the line, those people will be paying VERY close attention and ANY suspect moves will be challenged. Unless you have a partner, the old mexican turnover better be flawless.

Back in the old days when i had nothing better to do, i would only use little scams like this to get free drinks, taking money seemed a little too dishonest for me (yes i am aware it is pretty similar).

Only twice did i use pickpocketing outside of performance (that i can recall).

There was a man sitting a couple of tables away from me with his friends and i noticed his wallet was sticking out of his back pocket a little, so i went and took it.
Now i could have just nicked it, taken the money and run off but that seemed tacky and nowhere near as manipulative as i like, so i walked straight up to reception and handed it in saying i had just found it.

When i got back i went up to the guy and said

"Excuse me, sorry to bother you, but did you lose your wallet ?"

He checked his pocket and freaked out (as you do when you lose
something valuable).

"It's okay" i assured him, "I picked it up but i took it to the front desk because i did not want to give it to the wrong person, you have to be careful these days, i am sure if you describe it to them you will be able to get it straight back"

He was very happy with me and my honesty
"My pleasure of course, hope you guys have a good night" i said and i walked back to my table and sat there alone, watching the jazz trio.

When he got back he bought me many drinks which was just fine with me
That was one of those times when i certainly didn't need the money but simply needed some amusement.

My second real pickpocketing outside of performance, this is a good one.
When i was about 17, my friend and i got mugged, threatened with a knife and one of the guys took me to the bank machine wanting me to take out my money, i had over a $1000 in there that had not cleared yet (it would have been available in a day or so, and it was the weekend so i would not have been able to cancel immediately). So he took my card after seeing that money there but i 'stole' the card back

The guys were complete idiots and i think they were lenient on me when they asked me to empty my pockets, saw a deck of cards in there and i said "I am a professional card cheat" hoping this would kind of put us on a somewhat level playing field, if they thought i was a thief as well.
Possibly saved me from a beating or worse !

I DO NOT recommend any of you try either of these things, they were stupid, stupid things to do despite the happy outcomes.

I do not really think i have the attitude to steal people's things via pickpocketing with the intention to actually keep it. I would feel way too guilty.
When i was first learning in high school, i did a watch steal on a girl but dropped it, it hit the ground and stopped working.
She had no idea it was me and said "I dropped my watch ! its broken ! My parents are going to be so mad at me !!"

I said "That's terrible I'll tell you what, i will get it fixed for you"

She was astounded at my generosity.

No i didn't, she was one of those girls with 'standards'.
It took me at least a few more years before i could fake the attributes needed for a girl like that.
