Kids Show Books

I wanted to get a thread up about all the books that relate to kids shows and routing, so then hopefully it will become a sticky and help everyone who is going to get into kids shows

I'll start with the only book i personally know for kids shows:

- Mark Wilson's Complete Course On Magic

Others:

- Seriously Silly by David Kaye ( Book and DvD versions)

- Kidbiz by David Ginn

- Professional Magic For Children by David Ginn

- Magic Legacy by Gene Gordon

- Kids Think It's Funny Greg McMahan

- Kids Control by Julian Franklin

Apparently "Seriously Silly" is a terrific resource on kids shows.

This is not necessarily directed towrds kids shows, but I believe the full Tarbel series and Tommy Wonder books are worth the read.

David Ginn's "Kidbiz" and "Professional Magic For Children" have always been my two favorites.

Gene Gordon's "Magic Legacy" is great also.

MWCCOM isnt necessarily for kid shows!

Out of the two, which is your favorite Kyle?

Update:

I just found and ordered a used copy of Professional Magic for Children. Got it for a good price too I think. It should be here in a few days.

I've added the other book to my "watch" list. I routinely search for books I'm interested in to try and find them for a good price. As you may know, some out of print books can really get up there in price!

They are both GREAT. Of the two, my favorite would probably have to be Kidbiz. To me, Professional magic for children seemed like the sequal to Kidbiz (so the both go great back to back).

Gene Gordon's "Magical Legacy" is great, and out of print if I'm not mistaken, but you might get lucky and find it on ebay. Gene Gordon was David Ginn's hero. They are both full of kidshow knowledge and were kind enough to put it into writing.

I have not read any of Ginn's work but it seems to me that David Kaye is a poser.

Seriously Silly however is praised by a lot of people who own Ginn's book. Is the information any different?

I wasn't terribly entertained or impressed by the lecture either...

How can a poser charge $500 for an hour show, and still do 300 shows a year?

I only own SS, and as I said in my review it is my bible to Kid Show magic. He talks about presenting tricks, psychology of children, routining, solving the top 10 problems of performing for children, and more! The proof is in the pudding though; after I read this book I did my first kid show and charged $150 for it. The kids and adults loved it, and I owe my success to this book.

I personally think he is a genius and should take up children's psychology.

I knoe but its got a lot of great effects and routine for kids shows

You don't know the truth about Silly Billy's bookings and how he is as a person. He seems like a nice guy, yet he writes a lot of stuff about himself that isn't true. You might want to be a little hesitant about believing everything you read...

Everything he has written about and talked about has already been put into print by David Ginn (This is what Chris Meant by "David Ginn Poser"). "Seriously Silly" is nothing new. The same information has been in print and around for at least 15-20 years now.

I agree with that. But the book is very informative nonetheless.
