2 Q's on these.

1. I know the Penguin Monte uses gaffed cards, what other 3 Card Monte's is good and are there any that is imprompto? (I am going to get the Card Wallet for $0.83 that comes with 3 gaffed cards - aparently the card backs does not match any known decks?)

2. Does anny of the tricks on the 3 Oz DVDs (Born to perform, Stealing pips and Watch magic) require any gimmicked decks or gaffed cards?

This is the best I've seen. I believe it used just the standard moves and regular cards. http://es.youtube.com/watch?v=sxh3LHLikMk

I'm pretty sure Daryl has a very extensive dvd on the subject.

Standup monte is heavily gimmicked, so you're best off with Color Monte.

The problem with Color Monte, however, is that the cards look gimmicked even though they're not.

I do Color Monte with real cards. Either way, the School for Scoundrels puts out the best material on real con games.

btp only requires a duplicate of any regular card to be able to perform everything on the dvd, not sure about the other 2.

"Watch Magic" requires double backed and double faced cards.

Juan Tamariz's 3 card monte fooled me over and over. But to start out your best bet is Michael Skinner's Ultimate Three Card Monte. Well, that's what I reckon. Cards are gaffed though.

Is "Ultra-Monte trick with DVD Daryl" any good? Is it better than "The 3 Card Monte by Skinner" and "The Penguin Monte"?

The Ultimate Aces with Ben Salinas DVD (about $15) has a really good 4 card monte with 3 jokers and an ace. The DVD comes with the bicycle-backed cards including one gaffed card. The gaff "disappears" into your pocket so you finish clean. The trick comes with the little plastic packet wallet.

You show the four cards and turn over two of the jokers so that the spec has a 50/50 chance at guessing where the ace is. Of course, they are wrong so you remove one of the jokers and place in your pocket. The trick continues until you only have one card left. Surprise! The last card is a joker too. You pick up the "empty" packet wallet to show that the ace never left the wallet.

It's a really good, super easy monte routine. The DVD includes about 5 great ace routines including The Ultimate Ace Assembly (similar to Oz's version), Dai Vernon's Twisting the Aces, a Spectator cuts to the Aces routine, and a killer routine called Impossible.

I don't believe Penguin sells this DVD but I could be wrong. Here is my full review...

I highly recommend Michael Skinner's Ultimate Three Card Monte.
Comes with three Bicycle cards, one is gaffed.
Bill Malone is my favorite Monte performer and uses this packet.
He shares his version on Vol. 1 of his On the Loose series.

For a great Monte without gaffed cards, buy an Xpert pen and slide a few cards in to those clear sports card collector sleeves. Will also work with coins.

I agree. Highly reccomend Skinners Three Card Monte. Looks and performs brilliant. If you are a beginning card magician looking @ one of Oz Pearlmans DVD's, start with Born To Perform. Learn it through and through. Don't get sucked into buying expensive props, gaffes and other etc....You can destroy with the material on that dvd and it will get you comfortable with alot of moves you will be using later on with more advanced material.
