I had a brain wave today it's only half an idea but here's what I got maybe the mentalist think tank here can offer ideas.

Ok using the method available here as a download and changing presentation here's what I got... (will script properly later)

You anounce that you have a blue deck with a single red card in it (spreading to display)

You tell the spectator they are going to try and guess which card is the red card (whatever spiel you want to give them is fine I was thinking of something along the lines of I'm sending out unconcious cues to them which they will hopefully have picked up on alowing me to throw in comments like, this might not work so don't feel to bad if it doesn't...)

Revaltion 1 they name the card as you spread face up just like in red hot mamma, you close up the deck to build suspence... spread through face down to the red card and wallah it's the named card....

The affect could end there as a piece of mentalism but I was thinking the second phase could happen (where the red back transfers to another card) using patter like you only saw the named card as the red card because you wanted to when in fact it's this card which had the red back all along and this one is in fact blue.

Obviously this will all be scripted properly it's just an idea right now... any thoughts?

I used to do something like that a while back. I would take a odd backed card and place it fourth or fifth down from the top in a face up deck. I would cull the card out as I spread to show the faces and I would ask the spectator to choose a card explaining how there is only one odd back in the deck. Whichever card they touch you slide the culled card under and square the deck up. Spread the deck face down and show how "the card that YOU chose is the ONLY odd backed card in the deck." Then just complete the RHM trick.

I guess that can be tweaked so it has a mentalist approach.

This is basicly what I had in mind. Rather than making it seem like total chance as they do in the presentation here on penguin use the red card as a prediction or imply that you have been giving off subliminal ques to the spectator so that they already know what it is.

Another idea is to use a card to which you know a psychological force as the odd backed card, attempt the force and if it fails patter to create a moment of time misdirection as you go through cards to basicly set up the reveal.

Quite alot of magic can be made into mentalism with adjusted presentation.
