Hey all--

I'm going through Modern Coin Magic and am having a blast. I was wondering if anyone who has the Magic Makers Modern Coin Magic DVD set could tell me if it's worth the money. I have a couple of other MM DVDs, and have been pretty disappointed with them. I realize that people have become coin masters for 50 years with just the book, but I don't know anybody in the magic community and sometimes I feel like if I could just see some of these moves performed, I'd be more confident in what I've learned. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I bought the DVDs from Ebay for $30. I think for that price it's worth the money for sure. They are good DVDs.

sirbrad has raved about this dvd a few times. So I'd say it's probably worth the money. I really loved david stones coin magic dvds. They're the best i've seen.

I have heard it is really good on the magic cafe. Your best bet is to go to Tim Feher. He s on these forums under the name tfeher11 or feher. Can't remember. He is probably the most educated under this topic you will ever see lol. He has read and re read this book backwards so I'm sure he will be of help to you. Good luck!

I liked them. Ben is a personable guy and has skill. He's also a good teacher.

I have the old school Bobo's Modern Coin Magic text as well as the DVDs with Ben. There are only two things that I dislike about the DVD series: (1) the music is very repetitive (and a bit lame) and (2) there are a few things in the text that are not covered. That being said, Ben does a nice job explaining the various techniques/effects and the camera work is great...

My overall opinion is that the DVD series is by no means a replacement of the book, but it is an excellent tool for better understanding the text. I would say that if you have the extra money, and if there are places in Modern Coin Magic where you need further clarification, then you should pick up these DVDs -- you will not be disappointed ^_^

Yeah I know Ben personally, a very skilled technician and great personality. I loved the DVD long before I ever knew him. I think overall it is the most comprehensive video at the best value on the market. You won't be disappointed I can assure you.

I love Bobo's book to death, but sometimes the explanations and illustrations fall a little short. Again, since I've only been practicing for a year now and don't know anyone else who's serious about magic, it's hard to keep myself in check sometimes. It wasn't until I found these forums and coinvanish.com that I realized that my classic palm was all wrong. Months of practice down the tubes!

Lol You can also just go onto the cafe and talk to them there too. It seems like almost everything from Bobo's is in the DVD. You might actually get a little more out of the DVD because some of the stuff in the DVD wasn't clearly noted in the book. The edge grip wasn't recognized in it yet it was still used and it was a pain in the butt trying to find it lol

Thanks guys for the prop's but I'm a master at nothing and can prove it.
But seriously Bobo's can be hard to figure out sometimes the DVD is a good companion with the book Ben does a wonderful job showing the moves.
But if you do need help my door is always open.

Sorry Tim lol. I had to lol. If you havn't already done so, Tim has a miraculous youtube channel. He has a big variety of Bobo extras on his channel for you to watch, you need the book of course to understand what he is saying (no you seriously need the book, it is all "broken down" and abbreviated) and he goes through each of the chapters performing the moves and giving his thoughts on them as he does as well as a few simple routines to try out if you have the book.

I've actually seen Tim's channel and commented on his videos. Great stuff, Tim.
