Why, why, WHY would you ever buy that trick?

It's nifty, sure.
It's also REALLY easy to build.
I made one from scratch materials, and a fan I bought at the local dollar store.

The trick is a little overdone...I see it ALL the time....but if you wanna...go for it...just don't use the same old "when I was a child" patter that everyone else uses...ick..makes me sick.

It has some potential, particularly in kids shows.

Has anyone ever seen the floating butterfly version of this? I don't know how the original is made, but you can make a version of your own that's not angle sensitive at all, and you can use the mechanism of the snowstorm in china to unleash a flurry of butterflies for the finale. (To make the finale less angle sensitive, you naturally wouldn't have the snowstorm mechanism ON the fan.)

Cool Trick,

First read about it in the Tarbell course (volume 6 maybe?). Look under oriental mysteries. I think it's titled "Winter time in China" or "Chee Woo's winter fairytale". I've used it (I have a chinese adopted daughter) in my stage show. People love it.

Ew, why would anyone want to buy it? You can make it.
Easily.
I don't think penguin supplies the blown eggs or tissue paper anyway, so you'll have to make most of it by yourself regardless.

For the version Penguin sells you don't need a blown egg. I would say to that there is WAY more of a storm from these machine made packets. I've made it by hand, it doesn't even compare to the machine made versions. They also provide a nice handling (so you don't need an egg)
