I've seen here a lot of threads in which people are ripping two modern magicians. David Blaine and Criss Angel.

I'd like to say a few things on this topic. Firstly I don't really like Criss Angel, but that has more to do with his look than his magic. He's a little too wierd for me. I haven't made up my mind about David Blaine yet.

Let me say this though;

They are both millionaire performers who could teach us all a lot about marketing our magic and making it memorable. Like them or not they are successful.

If you haven't already, read Blaine's book, Mysterious Stranger. That'll give you more of an understanding of Blaine than any of his TV specials will.

Yeah, I highly recommend that book if you want more insight about his life. It starts from when he is a child and explains things you never knew about him.

The only interview I've seen of David Blaine was in the True Astonishment set. He seems to have created his character very deliberately and even makes fun of his own presentation a little (how he always says watch) I'm starting to think I really like the guy. I wish I were half as successful.

People rip Criss Angel way more than David Blaine. I believe the main reason is because Criss Angel is so arrogant. People don't like cocky and arrogant behavior.
