my dad seems to always spoil all magic tricks when we go to a magic store. we will see a trick and he will ask something like "CAN YOU DO THAT WITH ANY CARD" and not to lie the magician would have to say no. it drives me crazy. i should let my mom bring me for now on. does anybody have any other advice to shut him up rather than not letting him go?

While this does seem like it would be a bit annoying, I'm not sure how this is really "spoiling" the trick(s)... I mean, you're going to "spoil" it yourself when you purchase it. Moreover, it is actually a good idea to know in advance (before purchasing) a trick how versatile it is (e.g. can it be done with any card, coin, etc.). In any case, it sounds like your dad is annoying you, so maybe taking mom would be a better idea. If not, just tell him how you feel and ask him politely to not "spoil" it for you ^_^

To me, it sounds like your Dad is embarrassing you more than anything. I wouldn't mind having someone like that because they can let you make a little bit more of an informed decision and, if you do like the effect of the trick, you can still get it. The magicians working the shops don't really care either way so long as they make a sale. They're a different breed.

If it 'drives you crazy', suck it up and tell the guy that it 'drives you crazy'. TALK TO HIM!
