I thought this was a great point by Jay Sankey. He mentions that if you plan on performing in a dress shirt with a vest or even just a dress shirt, you should approach them like that. When you walk in there wearing a suit, they will expect you to wear a suit. Also, Applebees is kind of a sports bar kind of place, I don't reccomend getting WAAAAAY too fancy with everything. Dress nice, but don't wear a tux lol

Well I got the job. He wants me to do that and host. I actually like the idea. I won't mention I am a magician and let the magic happen and seat them and he said I could go around doing magic too but host also. So I juggle two jobs. This will be fun. :D

Are you making the wages of a magician or a host?

He said host. This is my first time so I am looking for the experience as well. I am playing a host who has magical powers.

You are also shooting yourself and any other magician who tries to work at the same place in the foot. People would rather spend less money, the second you give them a break and accept a less than average wage is the second they take advantage of you. Don't think for a second that later on you will get a raise.

Even starting out your time should be worth 50 an hour or so.

Ok well I am glad you told me. I honestly didn't mean to do that.

It's a common error. Don't feel bad, just learn from your mistakes. :)

It will be good practice, and by all means do the job, just keep it in mind for the future that your prices not only affect you, but also every other magician that serves that same client.

I'm glad to here that you got the job. Bravesaint did give some very good advice though.

It will be great practice for you, but I think they kind of played the situation to their benefit. You're doing two jobs for them, but they are only paying for one. Next time though you will know, and this will be a great learning experience. So I hope it goes very well for you.

Thanks everyone. Trust me I wouldn't had done that if I had known. I do like the practice but like you said next time I will know. I promise I won't let this happen again.
