Does anybody know this magic trick where the person asks you for a girl’s name, boys name and you choose black or white? The person writes the name down on a sheet of paper of who they think you are thinking off and than they ask you who you were thinking off. They do the same thing for the color and than that person guesses all the answers that you had choose for yourself. Is that real? Can someone really do that? If so how and what’s the trick?

It is called mentalism. Dbaker is right, this is not for kids as they would not understand it. As for what the trick is, well that you will have to study to learn but I will tell you it is based on one of the basic principles of magic. Which one? Again go study.

For the dove pan I'd use gifts or little trinkets over candy. As sad as it is if a kid chokes on candy that you gave them...it could be costly.

Here's my kids show routine. many of you will argue with the fact I do mentalism but kids love it frankly and the adults are more likely to book me for something. You definatly should do mentalism. I also do card tricks that I have found go great for kids but short on time they would be first to go. For a larger audience I'd lose the coin tricks.

Come out in chained and mention don't think I can perform then escape
Bite out quarter
smashed (Sankey)
King Solomon's drink (I wear a cape so I'm clean 360 degrees)
if I feel like it i do Infusion from Ellusionist
Healed and sealed
Cut and restored rope
If I can arrange it I do Fizz Master and shoot it into a towel someone is holding or out the window etc.. If its not the right situation, DONT DO IT!
Vanishing Bandana (my most popular trick, put a towel out under you though, you will drop bannana peices)
Remix (from Sankey Sanders session)
Bigger Finish
Children play with three foot canes (Tangled Web by Eric Mead) (greatest trick with an apearing cane!)
Bold Business Mind Stunts 1 by Patric Kuffs)
Into the abyss (Oz Pearlman) (I do this trick in every single show i do)
B2 bomber or equivalent pen through dollar on a largish bill
100 foot of rope escape (either get a parent to tie you or a bunch of kids)

Believe me, this routine works!!!!! If you have any questions feel free to ask me melech12@hotmail.com

it could be closer to 45 minutes, depending. Whats nice is that its modular, so you can take out what doesn't fit your time constraints.

Lots of good stuff in this thread.

Enough effects to put together quite a few 30 minute routines!!!

I'm working on a kids show myself. I've got quite a few of the things listed in this thread as possibilities.

Anything colorful, visual, simple, and funny will do I like...

Sponge balls (wich are good for almost any venue)
D'Lites
Misers dream
Any kind of silk magic (almost)
Rope magic
And liquid acts.

Any thing after that really is what tricks you like to do, and even the D'Lites aren't essential.
