Hey guys,

I had two school show's last thursday. The first was an hour with junior high kids (I just did our latest stage show). The second was for 130 or so kindergarden kids (that they bused to the middle school for me). Since I had the whole stage show set up, I tried something that I hadn't thought of before.

I have two aerotechnic magic wands (that launch streamers and confetti with CO2 about 45 feet). I decided to make launching the streamers into a kid friendly magic trick. I had the usual handshake gags with my voluteer, gave him a magic wand, and had him wave it over my aerotechnic wand and say some magic words. YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN HIS FACE WHEN THE WAND FIRED!!! HE WAS LITERALLY RUNNING IN PLACE LIKE FRED FLINTSTONE!! THE ONLY THING MISSING WAS YABA DABA DOO!! Of course I was careful to have him out of the line of fire. The streamers shot out over the kids. THEY WENT NUTS!!

I used some more wand gags with another voluteer, then fired my other wand. Best idea I've had in a long time.

Hmmmm..... seems like a cool idea. Will probably give the volunteer and audience a life long memory. Great thinking.

Gotta ask, though, how come whenever you spell volunteer, you leave out the 'n?'

Who didn't know it's a scroll like ornament that forms the basis of the lonic order. That's common knowledge :?

I suppose as a custom woodworker I should have known that!

I shot the aerotechnic wands again yesterday at a small birthday party (about 14 kids 7 and under). Since I was outside but the kids were very close I used a different load. I had some streamers but also put confetti and a small fluffy ball in the end. That kept it from shooting so far. It worked out just right and the streamers opened right over the kids. One little guy was jumping up and down yelling, "I caught it I caught it!!".

The confetti makes a lot bigger mess than just the streamers. When I offered to clean it up at the end of the party the dad told me he would just mow over it and mulch it up! All and all I've had a great response to the effect so far, and it's pretty easy to do (it just takes a few minutes to load the wands)

If anyone is curious I got the wands at Theatrefx online. They are basically a piece of 3/4 inch pvc that has the co2 launcher attached at one end. They have a nice sparkly design in the middle. They also sell the loads and special co2. I think the wands cost me around 90 bucks each. I'm thinking of getting some larger cannons!!! :D
