so i'm pretty new to stage magic, and i don't have a lot of money to spend. i've been doing tricks that involve basically no props besides a blanket and an assistant. i've recreated a version of metamorphasis, (which only cost me $20), and i'm using a transpo type of effect with 3 people, and a levitation for my assistant. i'm also working on making a simplified version of a Dekolta Chair. these are all great tricks, but i certainly need more. i want some kind of effect that makes someone vanish, and then reappear elsewhere, or anything else big that is not very expensive. i am also interested in large scale illusions that i can simplify. i have a "criss angel" type of stage magic. any suggestions, or am i hopeless until i get tons of money? any advice is greatly appreciated.

I am not much into stage, so I am not the biggest help.

But...
Might want to look into some of Andrew Maynes stuff.
Also look into some older books on stage magic.
The books and dvds on the effects arent too pricy, but the building or buyin of certain props can be.

Might also want to consider looking into escapes, and turning them into magicial effects. Thats something I could be more helpful with.

what kind of escapes where you thinking of? i'm pretty good with ropes, i can pick handcuffs and basic locks, so what should i try? the only escape/illusion that i do is the simplified version of metamorphasis. i could try escapes. what do you think?

You could buy a pair or Quick Release Shackels and make a comedy routine out of it. Same goes with several quick release (and bind) rope ties.

You could perform a Spector cabinet with the use of a mobile cabinet and a previously mentioned type of rope tie. The spector cabinet is a great stage effect. Copperfield does a great version of it.

I mean, I am guessing you would rather present them as magicial... over serious. For your style. So find different rope escapes, I have a few books packed with stage escapes and illusions. That can be made serious, magicial or comical.

You could also perform a SJ escape, a 100ft rope escape.

Most escapes can be done on stage. You just have to figure out how to make them your own.

Ohh, and dont forget about metalism... if that could fit at all into your shows.
Also the classics- linking rings, the floating globe (forget the real name), dancing cane, floating table... stuff like that.
