How did you do that?

Very well, with great difficulty, the same way i took your watch (watch stealing routine)

Random phrase i didn't feel like makeing a new topic for:
Anybody, if they beleive, can saw themselves in half. Once. yes i know that was really bad.

I like that line, I've tried to tone it down lately.

Spec, "How did you do that?"

Me, "I did it.......... pretty well don't you think?" Most of the time that just shuts them down but if they say, "I mean, how does it work" Then what?

I haven't come up with any good comebacks. Anyone?

Ted

You continue. Most any "how'd you do that" line could be replied to in the same way.
For example,

Spec:
Quote:
Whoa! How'd you do that?

Performer:
Quote:
Exceptionally well, thanks.

Spec:
Quote:
No no, I mean, how's it work?

Performer:
Quote:
Well, as I've said, it works very well, thank you.

I've seen this type of thing go on for 2-4 questions phrased differently, and when done in a "tongue in cheek" type voice/attitude, actually gets some laughs from the crowd.

"How did you do that?"

"I do nothing at all. That is all my invisible all-powerful demon from the seventh dimension. I can't seem to get rid of him. Sometimes, when he's drunk, he puts an extra $10 in your wallet as well."

Spectator is busy checking his wallet, forgets about asking any more questions...

I just say "trick hands" and do spirit fingers or Jazz hands. Then to prove it you can take your thumb off or shrink your pinky.

I'm not a fan of the "Very well, thank you" line. It just seems too cocky and arrogant for me. I tend to deflect the question, because they're not usually asking for the secret, just responding in the only way they know how. There's a section in Maximum Entertainment that focuses on these types of replies.

I agree. I've ALWAYS dislike the, "Very well, thank you" line, too! I just look at them, with their face still awe-struck, and just give them a small smile... it ALWAYS works-well for me, that is.

One of my favorite lines is "I have no idea, this stuff just happens". It takes a little of the sting out of them being fooled and fits me, which is the most important thing. If it doesn't fit you, you shouldn't say it.

A lot of the ones I use are already here, but my number one is "Magic!, Duh!"
Or if im doing it with some friends that can take a joke I say "The same way I did your mom last night"
I wouldn't recommend using the second one if your a pro, haha.
