I don't understand the concept of why people wan't to see this type of stuff either. I can kinda see the statement "screwups draw attention" ... and yet ... not really. Maybe the same reason as to why people buy into this kind of "magic"

so what if he uses stooges or camera tricks to do ceartin ilusions whats wrong with that its tv magic

and i think that most laymen know that the stuff they see on tv is not possible in real world situations(well some stuff is possible)

they know that someone cant walk up to them on the streets and levitate above a building

so who cares if the whole entire show is fake and everyones actors i dont

jonathan_thegreat: Actually, what Criss does effects other magicians. He is in the public eye, and people do believe that what he does can be accomplished live; without cameras or stooges. That's the problem. Even more so though, he makes magicians look bad by having an over inflated ego that he simply can not back up.

TV magic has had a reputation built up by the greats such as Blackstone, Henning, and Copperfield. Each one assured the audience that camera tricks were not done, and it took a long time for that idea to actually stick. Now Criss comes in, and plays off that reputation, and essentially starts to destroy it. That's a problem.

The video did just what he wanted it to do. ( Get people to talk about it ) Alot more people will watch. ( Tell me hes not magic )

This is downright mind blowing. How you can call yourself a magician and have any respect for another so-called-"magician" who does nothing but camera tricks, and has the nerve to be arrogant about it like he actually has talent, is baffling to me.

fallingblood pretty much nailed it. There is a certain trust between a viewer at home and a magician on TV. People know that most magic is designed for live performances, and that most magicians actually perform live for real people, and therefore they are led to believe that as a magician, Criss shouldn't need camera tricks. A lot of people also tend to be naive and believe that Criss couldn't possibly be famous and have his own show if his crap was no good.

It's just dishonest. Criss has no integrity and all he cares about is being rich and famous. He is a hemorrhoid on the @ss of the magic community.
