i have a whole lot of card magic and need some coins or something in my routine. any suggestions for some really amazing coin dvds or tricks?

Get a book titled Modern Coin Magic by J.B. Bobo.

You don't. Don't worry, it's not the end of the world. Worst comes to worst, one of the mods will change it if they feel like it.

Oh, and I second what ZachRandolph said: Get Modern Coin Magic.

Either that or you can start with In The Beginning There Were Coins as a bit of an introduction. I loved that DVD.

I've always found that videos are easier to get started with. I'd highly recommend In the Beginning. There's a lot of really strong magic on the videos and it gives you all of the fundamentals. Once you have the basics, the books will make a lot more sense.

Blackout..............Very cool

While this is a good trick, I don't think this is what he's looking for. He needs general coin sleight material, not a 'one trick pony'.

Hey, Blackout isn't a one trick pony, it's a one trick stallion. (Did you know the pony express didn't have a single pony? just horses)

I HIGHLY recommend starting w/ Bobo's "Modern Coin Magic". About 20 years ago I started coin magic, this was my starting point. I should've spent more time w/ it but after learning a few sleights I pressed on with some of David Roth's stuff.

After quite a few years of no magic I've now picked up my coins again and am "finger flickin'" all over the place. I went right back to Bobo's, again. Spending more time w/ it and after about 6 months I'm now mixing it up w/ Roth's Modern Coin Magic book and his video series.

Many feel like the routines from Bobo's are dated. The routines aren't dated, the patter is. This is actually good for me, forces me to make the effect mine by changing it slightly and scripting my own patter. I don't want to sound like anyone but me. I do the same w/ Roth's routines and others that I've been playing with.

Again, Believe in Bobo.......

Yes! Finally a man with sense! Bobo's is the greatest book in the whole universe (well I think so anyway). I am a coin magician a bobo's has been the greatest purchase of my entire magic career. You may see in other topics my rants about bobo's. It is that good. And I agree with everything Dockarate said.

I will however suggest picking up an order consisting of only two items if you really want to learn coin magic.

Watch some of ITBTWC and read bobo's. You will be performing incredible pieces of magic that some only dream of.

Yes, visual is nice, and will undoubtedly help the learning process which is why ITBTWC However, the routines in bobo's will force you to develop your own style of magic, which is why it is soo prized. Take the adivce of everyone on here and pick up bobo's (number one) and In The Beginning There Were Coins (number two).
