Hi guys,

Recently I've been exploring the field of 'fire magic' and have come across some fairly decent effects that go really well with my style of close-up performance.
(Match Bite, Ignition Impossible, 3rd Degree Burn... to name a few).

However, none have impressed me as much as this illusion by Angela Funovits:

Naturally, I'm not asking for exposure. If someone could simply give me a name for this effect so that I may do my own research on it, I'd be very greatful.


On a side note, if anybody has any other suggestions for tricks of a pyrotechnic nature that are practical for walk-around situations, that would also be appreciated.

In my experience, "practical for walkaround" and "fire effects" shouldn't be used in the same sentence.

Yeah, and most restaurants don't want fire. Plus most of the stuff I've seen need to be reset (or at least re-filled) If you come up with something that is easy to reset let us know!

I understand what you guys are saying. Keep in mind that I'm not talking about fire-breathing around people's dinner... but take 3rd Degree Burn for instance, it's practicality lies in that you need a small flame from a lighter or, at worst, the ambiance candle that's already on the table. No set-up, no re-set... so long as there's a candle on the table or butane in your lighter, you're good to go.
Those are the type of 'practical fire effects' I'm after.

But back to the main purpose of this thread, I should also point out that I don't plan on doing Angela Funovits' burning card trick at a restaurant either... I'm just after a name for the performed effect (not a made-up one please! ) because this in my opinion is a great display of mentalism/fire magic. Any help would be appreciated.

I haven't seen this trick on the market.
The neck "bruise" was probably a non-permanent tattoo you can get on some magic sites, and since her hair was covering it, no-one could see it until the end.
I'm guessing the changing card may have been an alpha card with some lighter fluid somehow sneaked onto it to make the flame burn so long...
