I have an idea for a trick but idk how to make it

So my trick is called "Call It" what happens is the magician either borrows a coin or supplies one themselves. They then proceed to flip it in the air and ask the spectator to call either heads or tails. The magician catches it and puts it on the back of their other hand and covers it. Then they ask the spectator what they called. The magician then removes their hand revealing the coin. It doesn't matter if the spectator calls it correctly or not. The magician then covers the coin with their hand and asks the spectator what side is up. They respond with whatever they just saw (lets say it was tails) the magician then removes their hand revealing that the coin flipped. They cover it again and ask the same question, the spectator says "heads" and the hand is removed and it is tails. This can be repeated multiple times with some variation (the spectator assumes the coin will change and call what they think it will turn into when in reality it didnt etc)

I think this would be an amazing trick I just don't know how to make it... any ideas?

This is not in the wrong section at all, and I actually could think of a method off the top of my head, using a shell and a real coin.

I was thinking of maybe using a shell... my goal is to make this as clean/impromptu/repeatable as possible. Thanks!

You could come up with a simple sleight to accomplish this, I think. It's a matter of finding a CLEAN method, that really looks good. I think using a gaff is reasonable, but I don't know if the effect itself is strong enough. Think of adding a kicker after a few guesses, like a jumbo coin or color change.

Yeah I agree about the kicker... this just came to me the other day so I'm still trying to envision it. I just started magic a few months ago but I am a fast learner and I really want to invent some (this would be my first)

how did you do yours? do you happen to have any video from a performance where you did this? I've been trying to flip it as smoothly as possible but have had no such luck thus far.

Also I just realized one problem with using a shell... if I have a 'tails' shell and fhe coin actually lands on tails then trick won't work.

If you used your own coin, one with a steel core, you can use a M5 to make it flip with your hand cuped over it.

I forget where I saw this, but i read somewhere that if you put a mark on a wall at a certain height and you flip the coin to that mark at the same speed every time you do it, you will have the same results. I don't remember where I read it, I might be just remembering something I never read, but it sounds like you can have some fun with this

A steel core coin will not do this, you need a different coin!
