Hello everyone. I was thinking the other day about what my shows are going to look/sound like in the future. Then this came across my mind. If your doing a kids show... What do you do if you accidently curse?
I thought about it for a while and came up with some ideas, but I want to hear your thoughts on this. Say you accidently dropped something and said..(enter "F" word here) or (Enter "S" word here)

What would you do?

Could a moderator move this topic into the kids show section?

I think you either hope and pray the kids don't understand or that the parents don't care.

Best advice i can think of (and this is something i did cuzz i used to cuss a lot) is start getting rid of the problem now by stopping the bad habit. Put a rubber around your wrist and keep it there all the time. If you cuss, snap yourself with it. You'll stop pretty quickly.

If for some reason you really enjoy cussing and don't want to stop, then i don't know what to tell you. Best idea i can come up with is to extend whatever word you said into a longer non-offensive word. For example *after dropping palmed coin or whatever* "sh!t...tokee mushrooms are very good for you kids" In this example i've changed the "s word" into shiitakee mushrooms. (<that's the correct spelling)

I think the best thing to do is either stop swearing altogether or just pay attention to what you are saying. If this means scripting yourself, then do it.
I think the '[edited] mushroom' thing might not go over well with parents. You saying it makes the kids think its okay to say it.
"Timmy! Where did you learn to say that!?"
"The magician at the party"
"Well, we should definately hire him for our next event..."

I can see where being swarmed by little children screaming and grabbing for every gimmick you own might inspire one to want to curse....My advice. Don't do kid shows!

My advice little people management. I's like audience management but with young and short people otherwise known as kids. Keep them interested and make sure you have your routine down 110%. No dropping things or letting the kids se what's inside your magic case. You should have no reason to curse. If you still do, get rid of the habit.

If you're worried about cursing during a child's magic show, then stop cursing or get out of the business. Cursing would be the worse thing you could do.

Children drive me absolutely [edited] mushrooms, guess which age group I'm never performing for...
