Get a dowel rod that's about 1 1/2 in. thick. Mount it at about waist height. Wrap it with dish towels and secure them in place at the thickness you want. This setup will simulate the give you'll find in someone's wrist, while still holding rigid. Makes a great way to practice, but until you're working on people, you won't know if you're using too much pressure, so that's still the best way.
