It's probably in the top 3 of the strongest card tricks you could do. It kills every time I do it. I performed it for my Albuquerque Young Magician's Club when I was leading the group and a group of kids gave me a standing ovation for it. They were freaking out. People from the magic shop actually had to come in and see what was going on because they'd never heard them get that loud before.

I've got some work on the trick that I'm going to look into releasing after I get it audience tested and work out some of the kinks. It's a "worker" handling for it.

Sounds exciting! I rarely justify learning a difficult sleight(move) for one effect but I might reconsider for this effect. If you release this will you also include instruction on the perfect shuffle?

Hey eostresh. Try this. This is Marlos estimation cut.

Show 4 aces secretly control them to the top. Display the bottom cards by fanning the deck face up showing no aces. Double cut these to the top. So now the aces lay at 9,10,11,12. Do 1 faro shuffles (over or under). It doesnt have to be perfectly cut or weaved. As long as you weave the aces so it goes, indiff card, ace,indiff,ace,indiff,ace,etc... And know the the aces order. Now you can use estimation cutting. You either cut to an ace or it is the one of the face down tabled stack.

there a fantastic utility for just a partial faro.

If I ever get around to releasing anything, I'd definitely include any information needed to do them.

Exodus, I believe it was you talking about Elmsley that has a book all about the faro. What book(s) are theseÉ Also it is believed that Rusduck that came up with the stay-stack (mirror stack). Are there any books of his that deals on the stay-stack. Also what are some other books that solely deal with the stay stackÉ I think Marlo has some books that deals with it but I am unsure of the title.

I really want to understand everything about the faro & stay-stack. Such a beautiful idiom of cards, such a thrill to learn cards, isnt! it!!!!

Paul.

The Collected Work of Alex Elmsley has a full section on tricks with the Faro, as does his L&L set.

On the note of exposing the Faro as a show of skill, someone saw me do a Faro tonight when I was just shuffling the pack before doing a trick for them and repeatedly asked me to do it again, as well as bringing others over to see it. She was blown away simply by the move.

Yes I know Exodus! But, here is the kicker I add after I do that a few times. Then do the one hand perfect shuffle. It can't get any better than that.

I believe it was Ed Marlo that came up with it and it was called Marlo's Miracle Aces or Marlo's Estimation Aces. But I mean the premise and skeleton is an old one that has been independently thought up my many in the passed.

You are, in fact, correct. The mechanics are very close. My bad.

In Expert Card Technique also displays using faros (estimation cutting or sraddle faro) and a crimp card to get into good poker hands.
