Check out these videos first:

and

I want to build my own routine using this type of production. But I know nothing about it, not even how it works.
How do learn to do this? How would a buy/make something like this? Any dvd's, books anything on this?

Thanks.

the 1st item is exclusively Arthur Trace's...It's part of his current act and he probably doesn't want anyone else doing it at the moment...I got to see him do it live about 2 weeks ago ;)

the second is a clever take on the "Silk Thru Mirror" illusion...

just imagine how much time went into building the 1st effect.

Its simple in theory but in execution would be extremely difficult. I don't know how magical the effect would play to the audience though. The manipulation is definitely way beyond most but it screams gimmicked board to me.

I just watched the video again, and there is a lot of clapping but not a lot of gasps.

It actually goes over quite well for a live audience. There were about 5 acts in the show that Arthur did this routine for, and his had the biggest round of applause during curtain call and it had the best reactions during the show. It's very impressive from the stage.

Clearly the board was gimmicked to change colors, but the sleights used for the ball manipulation were pretty impressive.
