Hey everyone.

Just wondering...what would your thoughts be on putting together a "silent" show for a parlour routine??

There would be some music, but the magician himself would be completely silent.

I have one effect that is a silent effect and is supposed to be done on a small stage, but I've been working on a few other things that would work with the magician offering no patter as well.

Do you guys think it would go over very well?? Or is it just a silly idea??

Well, the DVD Magic on Stage Vol. 1 with Jeff Mcbride is pretty much his commando act (which is totally brilliant) and its done in silence. Great DVD and Jeff teaches a heap of stuff for his show, down to how he packs his stuff.

I actually think parlor would be a difficult venue for a silent act. Not impossible but challenging. I've seen lots of silent big stage acts but to me the value of Parlor is the added audience interaction....a tall order when done silently.

Oddly enough, the main effect that I have for this is designed for a stage with a smal crowd. It actually uses a member of the audience as part of the effect, yet is presented and taught as a completely silent act.

I know which one you are referring to...just can't think of much else. Obviously, since that is a card trick you could open that with the manipulation stuff(already mentioned)

Yes but other than some stage manipulation can't think of anything to go with it.

Should be interesting to build a parlor act around it.

I just realized that a classic ring box/flight routine should work well with the mime thing and that would include audience participation.

Also 22caliber bullet catch would work as well!

Geez now that you got me thinking I'm comming up with all kinds of stuff!

Well, for what it's worth I would modify the Pierrot effect so that it does NOT use the mime paint.

Basically just a normal magician with no patter.

My plan would be to use ONLY no patter from myself. I am thinking of adding the Vanishing Bandana act to it (and play the soundtrack with the voice overs from that) and a torn and restored bill effect that came with my Vanishing Bandana act.

It's only in the VERY early planning stages, but I think it could all work together really well.

I've had multiplying bottles on my wish list for ages. It's never in stock.

That one with the milk glasses looks pretty cool, though. I added that to my wish list as well.

Thanks Zam!! :D
