Just wondering who here gives gambling demonstrations? This is something I wish to do one day and I'm just curious as to who actually does them. What type of venues do you normally perform at? When you're hired will you exclusively do a gambling demo or will you mix in some magic?

I practice a few but rarely perform at a table so I rarely have an oppertunity to "demo."

The best gambling demonstrations I've come across IMHO is on Doc eason's bar magic Vol. 2. He does a poker demonstration that goes on for about 10-15min. Its awesome, plenty of magic, and its just super stuff. I'm working in getting it down at the moment!!

I have done them at various different venues. Some corporate parties have a Casino theme, they hire Blackjack dealers and such and they all sit around playing with fake money. A logical theme for a performance is gambling related in that situation so i have done that exclusively in those performances.

I have done some demonstrations at tables in a walk-around situation but i generally have always performed magic styled effects alongside them.

On topic, on occassion you do get gigs with theme of poker or cards but generally you still perform magic. The only time you will only do a gambling demonstation is either in addition to magic, or if you are hired to be a dealer / magician for a corporate "mock" poker night which usually have "prizes" at the end which people buy with the mock money for charity.

I've done a few gambling-oriented routines, but just for my friends and family; no gigs. I really like gambling theme tricks, but I don't like how you're pretty much limited to cards... for the most part, anyway.

I suppose you could add a lot of coin effects with poker chips and keep the gambling theme. Ie do a coin matrix and show how you could steal out chips from the pot.

I do fake gamble demonstrations.
I don't actually know a lot of gambling moves so I just do some DLs or multiple shifts and present them as ways of losing cards in the deck and then dealing them to myself.
