I am thinking of buying the new misers dream trick by Mikame. Does anyone know if this plays well for kids 7-10ish??

Absolutely, Miser Dreams of all kinds are great for kids or any crowd really. Miser's Dream was actually the trick that inspired Lance Burton.

I'd look into the Chris Capehart DVD instead if I were you

I second the Capehart DVD. The Mikame set is expensive and teaches a more traditional routine. The Capehart video is actually performed for kids and is amazing. It'll also save you a lot of money.

I actually remember the first magic show I ever saw was at my cousins birthday party...I must've been 5 maybe 6. I remember very little of the show, but the one thing that stands out is this funny guy walking around talking coins from everywhere and dropping them in a metal bucket. I remember finding it so funny that I was crying. It's such a striking memory. So from personal experience (some 15 years ago), I'd say it really works. But I believe it was his presentation and his sense of humour that made it.

I also suggest going with Chris Capehart's Miser's Dream DVD. This is a very practical and affordable. It's amazing to see how much magic you can get out of this for so little money.

Wow, the 40 second or so clip of the Capehart Misers Dream dvd looks great and 20 bucks cheaper. Would I have to buy anything else other than the dvd to do the effect??

Obviously the pail doesn't come with it but will I need the clips or whatever??

Couldn't you just do a normal Miser's Dream routine, but replace the coins with hard sweets?

The pail I use is a malt shaker that I got at restaurant supply for around $4.
