Have you come across a card trick called Shuffled / Unshuffled? I think that's what it is called.
I first saw this on Comedy Hour years ago, but have never seen it advertised. David Williamson was ths magician.
Rountine:- A card is chosen by a spectator (forced) and it is riffle shuffled into the deck. on the side of the deck are the words unshuffles 3 or 4 times and finaly shuffled along one side of the deck and the chosen card along the other side. That's about the jist of it anyway.

The routine is called Unshuffled and it's by Paul Gertner. Do a search here and it should come up for sale. It's a great routine. I've actually had magicians go crazy over the effect, so it plays well for both groups.

Hey Ex. That is one of the effects that made me want to learn the perfect faro. My faro still isn't perfect but it is close(usually only one or two mistakes). Is the principle on that strong enough that I could get away with that trick with a mistake or two? or should I keep practicing before I bother with it?

No, as I've found out in performance, if you miss one faro, the entire thing goes sideways and there is no out.

The DVD does teach the move in exquisite detail, though. If that's all that's causing you to put it off, then you'll have no worries.

I'll keep that in mind. Maybe it will help with my perfect faro as well. But, for the mean time, I'm still working my way through Earnest Earick's book and trying to get a proficient bottom deal as well so I think I have my work cut out for me. I'll put it on the list though...along with about a thousand other things!

Hey thanks! I might take you up on that and shoot you a PM. Too bad Penguin doesn't have a PO for that one. That's a book that could generate a lot of discussion and ideas.

Is this the same effect that Cyril does with the Japanese writing (Kanji) written on the side of the deck?
