On ITBTWC Jay teaches what he called the Ramsey Subtlety... but I've heard Sankey and a few others calling it Kaps. Is there a difference or just two different names?

Ramsey Subtlety is with finger palm and Kaps is with classic.

On Revolutionary Coin Magic, Jay confuses the two. But he spoke to magicians who spoke to some dead magicians and got it all straightened out...

Ramsay Subtlety is one of the coolest things that we, as coin magicians, have to use. It's so counter intuitive that laymen just don't stand a chance, but only if it's done correctly. I'd recommend the Andrew Galloway work on Ramsay or, my personal favorite, the John Carney DVD on Ramsay's classics.

Jay Sankey often confuses the two moves for each other.

Ramsay subtlety is with a coin in fingerpalm. Palm towards the spectators with the coin about parallel with the floor. They can see the inside of the palm but not the inside of the fingers. Kaps subtlety (i think originally credited to max malini but kaps popularized it) is with the coin classic palm with the hand palm up pink towards the body thumb toward the spectator and the hand tilted enough toward the body that the coin can't be seen. But the impression is given that the hand is seen empty.

That totally makes sense because Jay taught that also but he called it the Malini subtlety.

Malini subtley is a coin in classic palm with palms up. Apparently shows the hands empty. Fools laymen. David Stone uses it alot and ponta the smith uses it on his vanish routine.

These are by far the best subtles in coin magic.Kaps is with the coin in classic palm. Ramsey is with coin in finger palm. These work so wonderfully when you hold some thing else in your hand, whether it be a coin or a pen.
