It is cheaper, most of the parts can be replaced at hardware and craft stores, It is a good all around tool for thread work. If you get good at performing with and repairing it you should have a good foundation in ITRs and from their you might have a better idea of where to go from there.

You will need either a button up shirt(though it can be casual if you choose) or a jacket to hide the Micro ITR. If you want to perform like Blaine(t-shirt and jeans) and you, or someone close to you, is handy with electronics, then Tarantula may be the way to go. Just keep in mind that the learning curve might be a bit steeper with it.

are there any instuctions included with the micro-itr by sorcery or any dvds to teach you?

I think I'm going to go ahead and just get a Tarantula.

I've wanted one for a while now...I think it's time.

Yah, I got one yesterday for free. I had $60 worth of Ebay bucks and found one brand new on there. It was a bit more expensive than Penguin charges, but the Ebay bucks made it so that nothing came out of my pocket...good deal.

Alright...this thing showed up today and I'm pretty impressed.

I'm going to have to do some trimming of it to get it to fit right. Right now it kind of "bites" into me in a couple of spots but I think I can trim it down and take care of that. Oddly enough, for those of you that have it, I find that it works MUCH better for me if I use it "backwards." If I place it according to the DVD I have trouble activating it...but with it backwards it works perfectly fine for me. I will continue practicing with it in the direction that the DVD suggests, but I can do the effects that I really enjoy just fine with it backwards...so I don't think it's too much of an issue.

It works great...I particularly like just levitating things like bills or cards with it. Simple, straight forward, and impressive. I also like pulling the objects across the table with it. Good stuff.

I haven't tried any of the ring spinning tricks yet, but I don't know if I am really interested in doing that...so I might not give it too much thought.

I will probably start playing around with the Haunted Pack tomorrow.

The Tarantula Haunted pack is by far the most impressive I have seen. The Hoverring cost me a lot of thread in practice sessions. Cool effect but you might want to hold off until you have some spare spools handy.

I love the setup for it. Simply amazing.

I love Haunted Pack tricks...but the best one I have doesn't allow the deck to be inspected.

This could end up replacing that...

I always hesitate to recommend this to new folks but I'm sure It should be fine for you. Just keep in mind the technical issues. I still hear a lot of reports of problems with these.

Thanks for the heads-up. I've been in contact with Yigal directly about some of his products before, and from my experience he has GREAT customer service. So should something go wrong, I feel okay about getting it handled.
