Hey guys,

I am looking for a stand or table that is easy to transport and I can use during my shows, mostly kids shows. If it does some sort of trick or effect I guess that would be cool, but I really just want something that is easy to move and I can put my close up case on (maybe one you know comes with a close up case) or use as a surface for some of the tricks I do in my kids show. I am looking to spend no more than $300 on it. If anyone can point me in a direction you think would help me I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
-Ari

Ari, I use the same thing for all my shows. I have a restaurant tray stand and a shelf from Home Depot that is 24 inches long by maybe 10 in. wide with a ffurring strip around 3 sidesa to keep props from rolling off. Cost about $25 tops.

Ari, I second Paddy and Zenn's responses. I use a keyboard stand with a piece of half inch thick 20"x20" wood, covered with speaker material on top of the stand. On top of that I place my aluminum case with my props. As an added feature, I attached a close up pad to the top of my case with heavy duty velcro. Not the fabric kind, but rather the locking plastic velcro, to serve as a working surface for some effects. Looks great, and does the job.

If you get the chance, you may want to look at Tom Krzystof's Going Pro DVD here: http://www.penguinmagic.com/product.php?ID=1162

Lots of good info!

For price and "packs smaller/lighter" look at a folding/locking music stands;

...even a larger working surface could be attached to this.

Target has glossy, black, wooden, folding TV tray tables for $8. It's a little lower than I would like but it works great. I place a close up mat on top and it looks great. I get lots of compliments from other magicians. Search for "tv tray" on the Target web site.

I also agree that the Tom Krzystof DVD is fantastic.

Will do! I still need to find a connector and get the metal sheet but I think it will work out quite nicely
