Discuss British comedy...

I've been watching That Mitchell and Webb Look lately...and I love it. I also watched their movie, Magicians, which was quite good as well. Has anyone else seen it? Do you like it? etc.

So...yeah, discuss British comedy...

Jimmy Carr and Ricky Gervais are two of my favorite comedians. I sit back and watch at least one of each of their standup specials every week, if not every few days. I'm also a big fan of Mock the Week. British comedy as a whole is extremely different than American comedy. Maybe it's just the guys that are popular enough to be known over here as well, but their style just doesn't hit that PC wall that Americans naturally run into.

I enjoy A Bit of Fry and Laurie. I stumbled upon it a few years ago and was amazed at the kind of direction their comedy went. It was all very simple yet it had something else which for the life of me I can not place. You can see it on netflix right now if you want.

I wrote a report about british comedy back in high school. Gave me a good excuse to sit around and watch stuff like Monty Python, The Office, Are You Being Served?, and Mr. Bean.

I also enjoy Ricky Gervais. Never seen Mock the Week, but I'll have to check it out.

Also, it's so true. British comedy is so different from American comedy. Not to say it's superior, but in some ways it is. Both have their ups and downs, though.

Also, my friend was telling me about Fry and Laurie, and it sounds great. I'll definitely check it out once I'm done with Mitchell and Webb.

And on another forum, they were posting clips from Monty Python.

That's something we could do. Post clips from British comedy shows or stand-up or whatever...

FM (which includes a 'live' musical performance in every episode)
Father Ted
Ideal (the first few seasons, anyway)
Gavin and Stacey
The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret

and many others that I cannot recall at the moment.

Benny Hill is the champion of politically incorrect British humour.

I used to watch Mitchell and Webb's Peep Show, it wasn't REALLY a comedy but it had it's moments.
I also like Teachers, that's an awesome show.

YES!! The late Benny Hill was absolutely hilarious, the funniest man for some time. To bad he was so involved in his comedy persona that he died a very lonely old man in a very small flat.

Has anyone EVER watched Trigger Happy TV???? That is one of the funniest shows on earth! Just search on youtube for it. It's kind of a hidden-camera prank-show. Hillarious!

I've watched TriggerHappy before. Pretty funny. My sister really wants the first season on DVD...

When I was a kid, this was on in syndication every night at 7:00 PM and my mother would get so mad when she'd find me watching it.

Mr. Bean has long been one of my favorites.

Recently watched about a boy, I'm not sure if that was british humor or just british accents
