Hi guys! Anyone over here has any experience doing magic shows for 11-14 years old? Do you know what tricks might be suited for them? Thanks!

Welcome aboard. I hope you have your act down perfect if you are performing for this age group. They are one of the hardet to work with, these are the kids that say "I know how you did that" to every effect and if you make a mistake, no matter how small, they will crucify your butt. Just a warning if you are new to magic.

Sponge balls, fiber optics, Ambitious card, Identity, rubber bands, card transpositions, comedy, just HAVE FUN.

I would do Fiber Optics Extended. I did that for a talent show and actually messed up. I did the trick and everyone loved it. I was not able to do the whole routine because I only had 2 weeks to practice, but it is a good trick.

Haven't been here for awhile but this is my favorite age group to perform for.

One thing to bear in mind is that they're not little kids so be careful of routines and effects and in the same way, they're not adults so the same applies in routines and effects.

Since they're not little kids, you can use more complicated effects including some mentalism, especially when they're 13-14.

Effects that have come across as strong from my personal experience from several shows are sucker type of effects/rotuines. It's an awesome experience when they think they know exactly what you're up to only to shut them silent when you reveal that they were fooled since the very beginning!

Some strong visual magic, perhaps through music, works great.

Some strong mentalism also works great.

Add some comedy throughout if possible (depending on your type of showe, of course) but always remember, you're performing for the oldest of kids here (13-14 year-olds are teenagers, remember) and things that work great for 4-8 year olds probably (with rare exceptions) won't work great with this age group.

I feel I'm qualified to answer this as I was 14 about 3 months ago, Just perform like you would to adults... When I was 11-14 "kids" effects bored to me to he11, I preferred seeing the tricks shown to adults than cheesy overacting kids effects, my advice would be to just perform like you would to adults... and don't be afraid to have those "adult" jokes in, everyone will understand, they have heard way worse at school, believe me.

definitely rizer this gets greet reactions with kids this age try a do a lot of card magic for teens because they like to use cards

I would not suggest buying Rizer. It's completely impractical, the set up has to be done right before you begin the effect, and you can only perform it about once per week or two.

Not to mention, it's immediately obvious how it's done. I've seen actual rising card effects that are harder to figure out than rizer.

I do agree that teens are insatiable when it comes to card tricks, I learned that when I was just getting into magic, but so you know, they especially love to see things they've never seen before.
