Is Paddy really Jewish?
Or is that just a feature of his magician character?
Or am I just ignorant about synagogues also being refered to as churches and rabbi being refered to as pastor?

There is probably a very simple answer, but I just don't understand it.

He really is Jewish... odds are the church comment you found, he meant the local church. However you may just want to PM him instead of making an entire topic about it

I'm against organized religion yet still refer to the Catholic Church in my town as "my church" in the same way I referred to my town as "my town".

Yes I am. ElC if you are as smart as your mouth is you would understand why I used the 2nd reference. Especially because of the history of where you live.
