I am looking for a trick where the performers thumbs are tied together and yet he is able to pass his arms solidly through a mic stand and other objects. Does anyone know what this effect is called? I can't seem to find the video I was looking for. I saw Joe Monti's thumb tie routine but thats not exactly what I'm looking for. If anyone knows what this effect is called, where I can find it, and if it can be used with Joe Monti's routine please let me know

Thanks!

Josh, Jay Marshall wrote a booklet called The Jaspernese Thumb Tie. I know Mac King uses a variation of this method with twist-ties. It's still in print. I see that Penguin does not carry this, perhaps here: Jaspernese Thumb Tie

I would just like to point out that the proper title is the Jaspernese thumb tie. I have a first edition of the pamphlet and it is really a superb method. I don't perform it nearly as often as I should.

As always,
Dylan

I wouldn't buy Joe Monti's. He made more than a few to many extremely rude and inappropriate comments for me to ever want to buy anything from him. Plus Craig and Dave said his thumb tie wasn't that great anyway. :p

Dylan, My bad! I misread the title and proceeded to post it erroneously. My apologies for creating confusion. I have edited my original post for accuracy. Thank you for setting me straight, my friend.

Thanks everyone for your input! I've decided to go with the one that blindside/juliegel mentioned. Originally I wanted a thumbtie escape that could penetrate objects, but you could also pull one hand free for comedic effect. After watching the WPR and finding out that you can't with Monti's (and seemingly most effects) I learned the comedy rope escape in Mark Wilson's book. This way I can do my comedy escape and have a penetration effect as well with the pipe cleaner thumb tie version

Thanks everyone!
