I've heard it isn't so great, but never played with it myself. There are plenty of ways to make a small object vanish. I'd look into something like a topit or TKO as I think these will be more versatile than a gecko.

I had one. Sold it right away.

Some guys praise it and say that the people who hate it just don't know how to use it. Maybe I don't, but I followed the DVD's instructions to the "T" and it still sucked. Don't waste your time and money, get a topit instead.

Well, ultimately that decision is up to you. do you see yourself performing it? would it suit your performing style?

The reviews are, obviously not all that great, take that into account, when YOU make your final decision.

Get a raven. If you like that but want to vanish larger items look into a Gecko. If you don't like the Raven you re only out $20.00....not $60.00

I'd personally second the Toppit suggestion. If you want to vanish stuff that is probably the best utility prop available other than just good solid misdirection and sleight of hand.

Every magic trick or effect is great in the right hands. My Gecko is in the right hands now. ( The trash guys ) I wonder what he uses it for? Maybe picking up cans on the side of the road.

It is beginning to seem as if opinions against the Gecko are more than 50%. Maybe we should just sticky a "Don't buy the Gecko" thread.

The things I need to vanish in my show I can already vanish without the Gecko. It looks like it might be more applicable to street magicians, but then, I'd agree with everything that's been said so far, regarding topits and such. If I'm right about how it works, the 60 dollar price tag is a complete ripoff. If I'm wrong about how it works, it's a complete ripoff anyway, because you could do the same effect for much cheaper.

I find that the gecko is just to difficult to reset and even after resetting the gimmick can get dirty preventing it from properly functioning, requiring a reset. That all depends on how clean your environment is though and also how clean the object is that will be vanished.

One thing I can say for the gecko though is it does allow really heavy objects to vanish and if I were a shop lifter it would come in handy in the blueray section.
